CCTV Camera

The full form of CCTV is Closed Circuit Television.  It is also called Video Surveillance. CCTV is the use of cameras to transmit a signal to specific places on a limited sets of monitors. Signals are transmitted through following types

  •   Point-to-Point(P2P)
  •   Point-to Multipoint(P2MP)
  •   Mesh wires
  •   Wireless link

CCTV is often used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airport, military installation and convenience stores. It is also an important tool for distance education. It is also used in law enforcement, with cameras located on a police officer’s chest or head. A new advanced form of CCTV, utilizing DVR’s (Digital Video Recorders), provides recording for possibly many years, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion detection). More recently, decentralized IP cameras, perhaps equipped with megapixel sensors, support recording directly to network-attached storage devices, or internet flash for completely stand-alone operation.

    Working:

It has 4 major components namely:

  1.  Camera
  2.  Lens
  3.  Monitor
  4.  Video tape/Recorder

Among these components, the camera is the most important because it is the one that collects the images. The camera works the same way as the ordinary camera, only it is that it can be left to operate on its own. The camera comes with a motor that helps it to move the zoom parts. Once the image is been picked by the camera, it is taken to the monitor & then recorded in the video tape or DVR. The ability of the cameras to zoom in and out is determined by the type of lens it has.
